Be it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Definitions

  1. Sport club is defined as any business which primary purpose is to run a professional athletic team.
  2. Fans are defined as:
    1. Individual fans.
    2. Supporters' groups.
    3. Supporters' trusts.
  3. Share is defined as a stake in a specific company.

2 Ownesrhip

  1. All sport clubs in leagues or competitions as defined by Schedule A shall be required to have their fans own at least 50+1% of the shares on the clubs board.

2 Exception

  1. The British Olympic Association (BOA) is exempt from this act.

3 Short title, commencement and extent

  1. This Act may be cited as the Sport Club (Ownership) Act 2022
  2. This act comes into force one year after achieving Royal Assent.
  3. This act extends to the entire United Kingdom.
