Be it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Confirmation of certain Acts

  1. The Parliament Act 1949, enacted in accordance with the Parliament Act 1911, and the War Crimes Act 1991, the European Parliamentary Elections Act 1999 and the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 2000, enacted in accordance with the provisions of the Parliament Acts 1911 and 1949, are hereby confirmed.

2 Amendment of Parliament Act 1911

  1. In section 2(1) of the Parliament Act 1911, for the words "(other than a Money Bill or a Bill containing any provision to extend the maximum duration of Parliament beyond five years)" there is substituted "(other than-
    1. a Money Bill;
    2. a Bill containing any provision to vary the constitution or powers of the House of Lords;
    3. a Bill not all of whose provisions have been fully discussed and considered by the House of Commons in the last Session in which the Bill was passed by that House before being presented to Her Majesty, provided that this paragraph shall have no application to any Bill which had a Second Reading in the House of Commons before the enactment of this Act;
    4. a Bill containing any provision for amending or repealing this Act or amending the Parliament Acts 1911 and 1949;
    5. a Bill containing any provision to extend the maximum duration of Parliament beyond five years)".

3 Short title, construction and citation

  1. This Act may be cited as the Parliament Acts (Amendment) Act 2022.
  2. This Act and the Parliament Acts 1911 and 1949 shall be construed as one and may be cited together as the Parliament Acts 1911 to 2022, and accordingly section 4(1) of the Parliament Act 1911 (which specifies the words of enactment to be inserted in a Bill presented to Her Majesty under that Act) shall have effect with the substitution of the words "the Parliament Acts 1911 to 2022" for the words "the Parliament Acts 1911 and 1949".
  3. This Act comes into force upon Royal Assent.
